Sports massage
Sports massage is a manual technique specifically oriented to the needs of anyone who exercises, from amateur athletes to professionals. Through targeted manual techniques, the treatment aims to prepare the muscles for sport, support recovery after exertion and address tension, stiffness and muscle overload. As a medical massage therapist with a federal professional diploma, I adapt the treatment to your sport, your level of activity and the phase of your journey: preparation, recovery or management of a musculoskeletal condition.
How it works
The intensity, duration and techniques are adapted to the goal of the treatment. Techniques may be used to reduce tension and stiffness, improve tissue mobility, promote relaxation, treat overloaded areas and support recovery.
The treatment can accompany different phases:
- Pre‑event → prepares the body for physical activity without tiring the muscles; it can promote mobility, body awareness and the preparation of specific muscle groups
- Post‑workout → after physical activity it can be used to promote muscle relaxation and manage the tension associated with intense or prolonged training
What to expect
The intensity varies.
It’s useful to know that:
- A more intense treatment does not necessarily mean a more effective one
- The goal is to use the right intensity for the specific situation
Benefits
It can help to:
- Reduce muscle tension and stiffness
- Support recovery after physical activity
- Improve tissue mobility
- Promote muscle relaxation
- Improve body awareness
- Support preparation for sport
Indications
- Pre‑competition and pre‑training preparation
- Post‑activity muscle recovery
- Muscle contractures and overload
- Injury prevention
- Reduced recovery times
- Improved flexibility and mobility
Professional approach
The treatment is adapted to the sport, the frequency and intensity of training, the phase of preparation, upcoming competitions and the areas under the greatest load. When indicated, it can be combined with tecar therapy, ultrasound therapy and shockwave therapy.
It can be part of an overload management program, but it does not replace athletic preparation, recovery, rest or the assessment of clinical conditions.
